With the heat of summer now gone and the onset of Autumn, arguably the best time of the year, now upon us, classic car owners will be looking for every available opportunity to get that special car out of the garage for a bit of exercise.

Those in the know will be looking forward to the annual Forest Classic Rally, a 2-day Touring Road Event which is based at Wangaratta in beautiful North Eastern Victoria, on the Anzac Day weekend, April 26 and 27.

If your idea of a perfect weekend is a spirited drive through the beautiful autumn countryside, over some excellent sealed bitumen roads in your special motor car, then this year’s 10th Anniversary Forest Classic Rally is just the sort of tonic you need. Not only is the event one of the best organised events on the classic calendar, it’s one of the most friendly as well, with opportunities to catch up with old friends of similar interest either on the road, or over a great meal and a glass of wine at night.

And the Forest Classic Rally not some highly-overpriced event that leaves you feeling short-changed. The very reasonable entry fee of $595 for a crew of two people includes two night’s top class motel accommodation (with underground security parking for your valuable car), cooked breakfasts, a gala evening dinner, as well as a smorgasbord lunch, and more.

That’s just one of the reasons why competitors keep coming back each year.

Then there’s the three levels of navigation to choose from – the Touring section for novice crews, the Apprentice section for those wanting a bit more of a navigational challenge, or the full-on Masters section for the serious navigator and driver. A serious navigational weekend or a great drive without the real pressure – the choice is yours.

This year’s Forest Classic Rally is preceded by Anzac Day on Friday, April 25, making it an ideal opportunity to travel to Wangaratta and book in early on the Friday afternoon in readiness for the weekend’s excitement, to collect your maps and paperwork, or perhaps be part of the navigation school for novice crews.

Saturday sees crews on the road for around 400 kilometres of rallying, followed by a further 300 kilometres on Sunday. Then, with an early finish on Sunday afternoon, you can be home safe and sound after being part of one of the best classic events you’ll ever do.

No matter what you drive – Mini to Mustang, Triumph to Torana, Holden to Healey – you’ll enjoy the fun.

But there is so much more we can tell you, so why not download the Supplementary Regulations and an entry form to be part of this great event.

A word of warning, though – last year’s event was fully subscribed with 60 crews, so this year it will be a case of accepting entries strictly in receipt of order. Don’t miss out – this is your chance to join other Victorian, New South Wales and Queensland competitors who make up the entry list each year.
