17 year old Norwegian, Andreas Mikkelsen, won last weekend’s Plains Rally in mid-Wales in his ‘gravel’ Ford Focus, built to 2005 specifications.
Mikkelsen beat Jon Ingram by 9 seconds after a day long dust up. Early leader (and event sponsor) Stuart Jones rolled out of the event and now faces an uphill battle to get the car ready for the next BRC event, the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire in two weeks time.
Mikkelsen’s next rally is the final round of the Irish Tarmac series in Cork next weekend when he will be using his other 2005 Focus WRC - the tarmac car! He also has an 02 Focus in his fleet, along with an Impreza N11 and a 99 Focus WRC that is the practice car.
