Planning is well advanced for the 2009 CERBERUS STAGES, round one of both the 2009 Victorian Rally Championship and Victorian Excel Rally Series.
This years event will be held in the daylight hours of Saturday, March 21, in the forests surrounding the township of Noojee, north of Warragul. The event remains a "blind", Special Stage Rally which is fully route charted and tuliped with all grades of competitor eligible to compete.
Interstate crews are especially invited to sample Victorian special stage rallying at its finest. In the past the event has proved to be very popular with Classic Cars and once again they are also encouraged to enter and partake and sample the brilliant stages on offer. The event also is round one of the Victorian Excel Rally series and these competitors are also encouraged to enter.
With the demise of the Victorian round of the ARC for 2009, the VRC looks to be a six event Championship this year. For many, chasing Class, Outright 2 or 4 wheel drive honours in the VRC may now be an affordable challenge to be realised. For the Club type rallyist, it could be an opportunity to consider having a run in the VRC and experience daylight rallying on brilliant stages with a high emphasise on safety. Who knows - you may be more competitive than you think.
The venue for scrutiny for the event will be at Brown Davis Motorsport, 47Â Holloway Drive, Bayswater on Wednesday, March 18.
The event will once again be centred at the Nerrim Memorial Hall, Hamono Rd, Nerrim. This being the venue for the Start, 1/2 way service & provisional finish ceremony point. The first car is due to start at 10.00 am and all crews will be finished before dark.
This year sees the introduction of many new stages and roads to the event, some not used by rallying before, let alone special stage rallying. The choice of competitive roads has always played a major part in the planning of this event and this year sees the tradition further enhanced.
With full 139 km competitive distance on THE best roads he region has to offer, competitors are in for a treat . The roads range from good surfaced forestry roads to wide open smooth main forest access routes where average speeds are expected to be high along with some seldom accessed Melbourne Water perimeter boundary roads, all of which are in superb condition .
It will not be a rough event, but it will still test crew and car endurance and preparation with limited servicing opportunities. The event will have one full service point is at the half way distance and two optional in-field refuelling points, where only one service vehicle per crew is allowed to attend and only refuelling is allowed. This layout gives maximum stage distance in a compact all daylight event.
The 2009 Cerberus Stages team invite you to give serious consideration to entering the event and are sure you won’t be disappointed.
If you can't enter or the new car won't be ready in time, then join our team in the forest as an official on one of the many spectacular Road Closure or Control points or at our spectator point for what promises to be an exciting days special stage rallying.
