This year’s 13th Classic Adelaide tarmac rally will be covered in a one-hour television feature broadcast nationally on the Seven Network early in the New Year.

The  program will be aired on Saturday 2 January at 12.30 pm in Sydney and Brisbane and 1 pm in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Viewers should check local TV guides to confirm broadcast dates and times in all areas.

The coverage will be produced by Adelaide company Winter Wonderland Productions, which assigned a team of 11 to the five-day rally and associated events.

Winter Wonderland director Mark-John Winter also produced daily highlights packages, which were used during the event by television news  services, plus versions for internet publication. A further version, including vision of the podium finish captured just hours before, was screened for several hundred guests at a post-event awards dinner in the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The Classic Adelaide  2009 television coverage will be enhanced by aerial footage taken on the final day of competition with the assistance of low-level filming specialist Peter McSherry, chief pilot of South Coast Helicopters.

A DVD version with extra features including footage not shown on television will be available from rally organiser Silverstone Events at the end of January.

Classic Adelaide 2009 was won outright for the third straight year by the Adelaide combination of Kevin Weeks and Rebecca Crunkhorn, in a 1974 Porsche 911 2.7 RS.

Almost 180 cars took part, ranging in age from 1929 to 2009 and representing many of the world’s most coveted performance makes.

The field included drivers and co-drivers from seven countries and all the Australian States. It featured driving identities such as five-time motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan, Le Mans winner Vern Schuppan, dual Australian Touring Car Champion Glenn Seton, Bathurst winner Win Percy and current Asian Le Mans GT2 Champion Allan Simonsen.
