ARCom were mindful that competitors had commented on the short periods between each round this year and have set a calendar to reflect those views and taking into account needs of each round and the APRC calendar.Â
Expressions of interest are still being examined for an ARC round in Victoria and an announcement is expected shortly.
The ARC Management team has been working on an extensive sponsorship acquisition programme with partners Nexus MG and there are some positive signs that the ARC will have a major sponsor for 2010.
The Championship website www.rally.com.au is set for a major revamp and you can expect to see an entirely new site in the next month.
Who will be competing next year? Glen Raymond plans to move to Group N and he is weighing up the Subaru or Mitsubishi option. He was pleased with the car he leased for Repco Rally Australia so it might point the way to the model he picks.
Neal Bates is unsure of his program as it gets down to sponsorship but it’s fair to say that his recently homologated S2000 was the star attraction at Repco Rally Australia and he certainly turned a few heads with his stage winning APRC performances. Bates could be set to become the S2000 car builder of choice in Australia with renewed interest in his cars after Repco Rally Australia.
Other ARC regulars are yet to confirm their intentions for the Championship at this early stage but regulars like Justin Dowel and Eli Evans are expected to return.Â
Channel 10 have again committed to an expanded coverage of the ARC for 2010 with even more hours to be broadcast.Â
