MSR Corporate have confirmed that the 2009 Rally Tasmania will run as scheduled from February 13-15, 2009.

With initial entries lower than expected, the viability of the event was in question; however after consideration by event director Les Walkden, he has confirmed that MSR Corporate is committed to providing a challenging and enjoyable event for those who have already entered, as well as ensuring the viability of the newly formed Australian Classic Tarmac Rally Championship (ACTC).

“With entry numbers not as high as we would have liked, it has meant that some alterations to the course will be required.  Unfortunately, due to the massive logistics required, the Saturday evening street stage will have to be dropped, but will hopefully make a triumphant return in 2010,” Event Manager Scott Spedding said.

“We are also considering some minor changes to other sections of the course, but will ensure that the effect on competitive kilometres is as minimal as possible.  Further details will be announced in the coming week, but changes are most likely to affect the Friday stages only.”

Despite the lower entry numbers, both Classic and Modern competition will are shaping up well with Jim Richards, Tony Quinn and Jamie Vandenberg heading up the Modern Competition, whilst Kevin Weeks, Keith Callinan, Brett Kay, Roger Patterson and Gary Tierney, to name a few, are all set to fight it out in the Classic section in what will be another sensational Rally Tasmania.

Rally Tasmania will run from February 13-15 on Tasmania’s North West Coast and further details can be found at www.rallytasmania.com.au.
