The Bosch Australian Rally Championship has welcomed the proposed changes the Ten Network has announced for specialist digital channel One HD and believes the new format will bring more viewers and expose the sport of rallying to a larger audience and many more viewers.

Ten has announced that One will be relaunched from May 8 with a Monday to Friday line-up featuring general entertainment programs designed to appeal to males aged between 25 and 54.

Sport, such as the Bosch Australian Rally Championship along with AFL matches, Formula One and MotoGP, will remain on weekends.

One HD airs rounds of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship and has a schedule in place for the 2011 Championship.

Bosch Australian Rally Championship CEO Scott Pedder said that rallying would remain a significant plank of the network's sports broadcasts.

"The Bosch Australian Rally Championship has a firm agreement with TEN/One that will see the series continue to be telecast season 2011," he said.

"The Bosch ARC brings sponsors and a good audience, so episode placement will remain strong, as it has done throughout TEN's long commitment to the sport which is entering its 13th year," said Scott Pedder.

"The reality is that TEN's announced changes are about building the overall audience share for One HD and the bigger its audience, the more it will benefit rallying in the long run," he added.

"This comes at a time when we have boosted TV coverage of the series on TEN/One HD, initiated some significant rule changes including reducing restrictions and revitalised interest in the Championship which will benefit the sport and One," he said.

More than 2.5 million Australians will see the Bosch ARC on TV in 2011 and the series will generate more than 36 hours of national television across the TEN/One HD network generating a media equivalency value exceeding $6 million with.

The opening round of the Bosch ARC, the Quit Forest Rally in WA is scheduled for April 15-17, with round two the International Rally of Queensland on the Sunshine Coast on May 13-15, round three the Rally of South Australia in the Adelaide Hills from July 29-31 while the fourth round will run in conjunction with Australia's World Championship round, Rally Australia at Coffs Harbour on September 9-11. The grand finale to the Bosch ARC will be Rally Victoria in Gippsland on November 11-12.
