A rally stage has so many variations and surface changes that achieving the perfect balance for a car is never going to happen. That doesn’t seem to occur to the drivers though.
They’re all guilty of it. Thierry Neuville, Ott Tanak, Elfyn Evans and all their adversaries.
What these fellas need to keep reminding themselves is that there are only eight ‘elite’ Rally1 seats in each rally – and they’re lucky enough to have one of them.
We get it, but you can almost hear the groans from team bosses after their ace driver complains yet again about this tyre or that suspension damper.
Instead of finding the positives from a stage and perhaps accepting that someone else was faster, it’s often too easy to take a negative stance and blame something on the car.
