Ron Brown, Managing Director of i-METT, the purpose-built motorsport themed park set to be built to host Rally Australia, says the venue will be ready in time for the 2009 event.

In a report in yesterday’s Brisbane Courier Mail, Brown said the upshot of the rally’s postponement from next year, now means the park will be ready in time to play a major role in the 2009 event.

It is believed that the proposed stages to be used if the rally went ahead in 2008, were predominantly in the Border Ranges region of northern NSW, however the report states that two domestic manufacturer teams conducted reconnaissance of the stages and found them to be unsuitable.   Brown suggested that the ’09 event would consist of only one or two stages in NSW with the Saturday and Sunday legs to be held in Queensland.  No mention has been made of exactly where these stages will be held.

Royal Pines Resort at Carrara, which is about 25 km from the proposed i-METT development at Norwell, is thought to be the preferred location for Rally Headquarters.
