Local crews with internationally-eligible cars that normally contest the Australian Rally Championship (ARC) will be offered incentives to step up to WRC or Production World Rally Championship (PWRC) level.
Rally Australia Clerk of Course Dr Michelle Gatton said the three-day, 365-kilometre course would be a great opportunity for local crews to compete directly against the best in the world.
“To compete in a World Championship round is the dream of any driver or co-driver. We hope many Australians will take this opportunity to test their performance against the international crews,” she said.
The incentives for local crews to enter Rally Australia include an attractive entry fee, a significant rebate scheme and bonus championship points for crews registered in the ARC.
ARC crews in Rally Australia also will be eligible for the new Confederation of Australian Motor Sport International Cup.
“This series initiative is for cars that comply with the rules of the Federation de l’Automobile (FIA) and reflects CAMS ongoing support and encouragement for local crews to maintain their involvement at international level, both at Rally Australia and the International Rally of Queensland (IROQ), Australia’s round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC),” Dr Gatton said.
A separate national event, incorporating round four of the ARC, will be staged over two days in conjunction with Rally Australia. Local crews will be able to score ARC points by entering either Rally Australia or the companion event.
Dr Gatton said Rally Australia welcomed the recent adoption by CAMS of modified vehicle regulations for ARC cars.
“We are extremely supportive of this move and the companion event will be a perfect way for crews who adopt these new rules to experience the great roads and large spectator numbers associated with Rally Australia,” she said.

Rally Australia will be round 10 of the WRC, which starts with Rally Sweden on 10-13 February.
