Former Toyota factory driver, Ben Barker, leads the 2017 Alpine Rally after Friday’s opening two stages. Driving a BMW 320i, Barker and co-driver Damien Long hold a handy 9.9 second lead after 15km of competitive driving, ahead of Luke Sytema and Adam Wright in a Ford Escort RS1800. Four-time Australian Rally Champion, Simon Evans, and co-driver Ben Searcy are third in a Datsun Stanza, followed by 2015 Alpine Rally winners, Jack Monkhouse and Dale Moscatt, in a Datsun 180B. The top five is rounded out by Alan Friend and Michelle Canning in a Nissan Silvia. The leading New Zealander is currently Deane Buist in 10th place in a Ford Escort. Newly crowned Australian Rally Champion, Nathan Quinn, sits in 21st place in his Mazda RX2. Follow the Alpine Rally results HERE.
