Paul Batten Racing’s 2007 plans are well under way with the team’s 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI C-Spec currently receiving a refresh in both mechanical and performance departments in anticipation for the 2007 ARC season.

“With the sale of the team Excel it allowed us to put into place the making of an even more reliable car, along with attempting to gain more power and hopefully that winning edge,” co-driver Craig Jones said.

Modifications include a full rebuild of the DMS suspension, a new stronger centre diff and a centre diff controller, and full AVO carbon fibre cold air intake. The car also spent a lot of time on the dyno at AVO Turbo.

The team has received support from AVO Turbo, Kangan Batman TAFE and DMS Suspension during the rebuild.

The Impreza has also been on a weight reduction program.

“We are putting together a good reliable package and hopefully this will allow us to achieve the results we desire,” Paul Batten said. “We ran a really cautious tune and set-up on the car for last year’s Rally of Melbourne and still managed to achieve stage times inside the Top 10. We hope that we can continually move forward with the upgrades that are being performed,” he added.

Batten’s program includes rallies across five states and three different championships The team will contest nine rallies for the year, with the possibility of a tarmac rally, in anticipation of a possible ARC round on tarmac in the future.

Paul Batten Racing is currently seeking support for the 2007 season.
