Brendan Reeves and Ben Atkinson have taken a nail-biting 11 second victory in the latest round of the Victorian Rally Championship, the pacenoted Akademos Rally.

In his first event since his massive crash at Rally South Australia 11 weeks ago, Reeves trailed Justin Dowel and Matt Lee for most of the event, but when the Activ RallySport Lancer punctured on the last stage, it allowed Reeves’ Subaru to take the win.

Reeves’ brother, Nathan, finished third in his Subaru, with Scott Spedding reading the pacenotes.

"It's fantastic to win on my first rally back," Brendan Reeves said.  "We were a little lucky that Justin punctured, but I'm happy to take a bit of luck!

"Ben (Atkinson) did an awesome job today.  I can't thank him and all my team enough for their support.  It really was a great day with Nathan finishing third, and to have Rhianon here watching in my first rally back was awesome.  I know she was wishing she was in the co-driver's seat!"

Mark Fawcett and Carrie Morris were fourth in another Subaru, with Brenton Kaitler and John Allen fifth on their return to the sport.

The first two-wheel drive car home was NSW driver Paul Batten in a Datsun 1600, in 11th place.
