Glenn Brinkman and Steven Richardson couldn’t be more pleased with the result from last weekend’s Rally of Queensland. Coming home fifth outright in the ARC, 1st in class and 1st in the Queensland Championship was much more then they had hoped for.
With this being the first event for their new Mitsubishi Evo 9, their plan was to ease into the event and bring the car home without damage. The weekend went to plan, the only problem for the service crew was to replace a bent intercooler, with the replacement borrowed from Glenn’s road car.
Brinkman will head to New Zealand next week for the Otago Rally, where he will compete in a leased Ford BDA Escort, Alan Stean, from Brisbane, will be taking on the co-driver’s role in this event.
Brinkman is looking forward to the challenge of competing in one of the most respected and successful cars of the 80s.
The team’s Evo 9 will have its next run at the Rally of Lithgow on May 12. The event is the first round of the NSW Rally Championship.
Brinkman and Richardson plan to compete in all NSW State rounds and as many rounds of the Queensland Championship as possible in 2007.
