The 2012 Bosch Australian Rally Championship will start with an all-new event to be held at Calder Park Raceway in Victoria.

Described as a "spectacular and innovative event that will change the face of rallying in Australia and help to usher in an entirely new era for the sport", the new event is expected to be mixed surface tarmac/gravel event.

Similar to rallycross, and perhaps trying to jump on to the successful bandwagon started by Ken Block's Gymkhana events, the new Calder Park event will be perfect for spectators, and will enable them to see multiple stages from the one location.

A media launch for the 2012 ARC will be held at Calder Park later this month, where regulations for the new SUV and 2WD Outright categories will be unveiled to the media.
