Chivers takes SXS podium in Forest Rally

The Anglomoil SXS (Side By Side) race team competing in the East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship (ECB ARC) has scored third at the opening round, the Quit Forest Rally in the forests of WA.

Father and son Les and Nathan Chivers stayed on the pace with the leaders throughout the two days of high speed forest racing in their Can Am Maverick 1000 X RS.

Both Can Ams finished on the podium, with the Michael Guest machine scoring second outright behind the Polaris of Cody Crocker.

“We finished all okay without any mechanical problems. The car performed faultlessly,” Les said.

“There was only one ‘moment’ when we landed on the side after hitting a big hole in the middle of the  track that wasn’t there in recce.

"Cody’s new vehicle was too good this time, but before we go to round two in South Australia we will fit 14” rims and bigger tyres and bigger brakes. We were fully committed to every stage and kept to within one second per kilometre behind Guest, so we will be looking for some extra horsepower before South Australia.”

The Chivers scored 60 points in the ARC, behind Guest (68) and Crocker (80).
