Over 40 entries have so been received and include the owners of ten Alpine Renaults who are using this event as part of their club program. The presence of the classic A110, A310, A610 and GTA Turbo Renaults will brighten up an already exciting lineup which includes Porsche, BMW, Peugeot, Ford and Alfa Romeo makes.
Scheduled for the weekend of April 28 and 29, the Forest Classic Rally is a round of the NSW Classic Rally Club’s TRE championship, and a large number of CRC members are expected to make the trip to Wangaratta to compete in this 750km, two day all-bitumen event. Â
Based in Wangaratta in Victoria’s north east region, the Forest Classic will offer competitors a wide variety of superb drivers roads through the Ovens, King and Kiewa valleys which will be alive with autumn colours. Crews have a choice of three levels of navigation – the Touring category will be fully route charted for novice and beginner crews, while the Masters section will be for those who like a distinct navigational challenge.
An intermediate category, the Apprentice class, will appeal to those who want some navigation to challenge them without it being too difficult. Entries are spread equally through the three categories.
The entry fee of $595 includes a high level of accommodation for two nights, breakfasts, lunch and dinners, all maps and, best of all, a very friendly atmosphere.
Anyone interested in competing in the event for the first time would be made most welcome and is reminded that a navigation school will be held on the Friday evening prior to the event. This will be an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in being involved in the exciting world of classic rallying to learn the basics.
