The sponsorship by Australia’s biggest hire company was announced by Rally Australia Event Manager David Catchpole during the inaugural Australian Rally Hall of Fame dinner in Canberra last night.
The rally, round 10 of the WRC, will be staged in the Coffs Coast region of New South Wales on 12-15 September.
It is expected to attract tens of thousands of spectators from around Australia and overseas and showcase the sub-tropical holiday and rural destination to a global television audience.
Coates Hire has more 125 years’ experience supplying to a wide variety of markets, including engineering and building construction and maintenance, mining and resources, manufacturing, government and events.
It operates more than 200 branches and satellite locations around Australia, plus mining and drilling support divisions in Britain and Indonesia.
Mr Catchpole said Coates Hire was a perfect partner for Rally Australia, one of the biggest international sports events in the NSW calendar.
“The unique nature of a special-stage world rally requires extensive temporary infrastructure across an entire region and no company is better equipped or more experienced than Coates Hire to support us in this major project,” Mr Catchpole said.
“Rally Australia’s previous experiences with Coates Hire have been very successful and now we’re delighted to be stepping up our relationship to one that is both operational and promotional.”
Jeremy Hill, Group Manager – Strategic Marketing at Coates Hire, said the company had a long history of involvement with rallying throughout Australia and had now decided to extend its motorsport association by partnering with the brilliant Coates Hire Rally Australia, which was the pinnacle of Australian rallying.

Coates Hire has also become the “Official Hire Equipment Sponsor” of the East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship.
