There is an international fable that “cats have nine lives”, meaning they escape from life-threatening situations nine times in their lives, let alone in a year.

What therefore should we make of the rallying activities of Kris Meeke, who has survived nine off-road excursions, not just in his life time, but in less than the first six months of this year?

His 2017 record is remarkable. In Monte Carlo he damaged the suspension on a road side stone, missing five stages, then retired because of a road crash.

Before Sweden he rolled in testing, then went off the road for eight minutes on the rally.

In Mexico he had the most extraordinary moment when he went off the road in a spectator car park, drove back to the stage and still won the rally.

In Argentina he rolled after impacting a bump and then destroyed his car in another, this time multiple rollover.

In Portugal he hit a large roadside stone and missed three stages, and now, in Sardinia, he rolled his car hard enough to damage the roll cage.

Meeke has now been “rested” by the Citroen team for the next WRC round in Poland. Read the story and the reasons HERE.
