Saturday 21 November will see the PCD Engineering sponsored 2009 ACT Rally Series draw to a close with the running of the final round, the Trussme National Capital Rally.

Competitors from the ACT and surrounding areas will do battle in the Kowen pine plantation to the east of the city.

One of these competitors will be Canberra driver and rising star, Adrian Coppin.  Coppin is chasing the ACT Novice Championship in his Hyundai Excel with sponsorship from Total Traction Services and Sennell.com.au.

This year is Adrian’s rallying debut and despite missing the first two rounds of the series he is just eight points away from securing third place in the novice championship.

With the successful debut of his new car at the Bay Stages Rally on the NSW south coast last month, Coppin is confident he can grab the eight points he needs to finish in the top three for the year.

“I was really impressed with my new Hyundai’s speed at Batemans Bay,” Coppin said. “I didn’t really expect to be this high up in the championship when I started rallying this year and after the Bay I’m quietly confident I can grab enough points for third in the title,” he said.

The Bay Stages Rally marked the start of a new chapter for the young Canberra driver as he debuted his new Hyundai Excel.  He turned heads by finishing third in the Hyundai Excel Rally Series ahead of much more experienced competitors.  The Excel Series is the most hotly contested series in NSW this year and his result shows his potential for the future.
