With only two events remaining in the 2010 RallySchool.com Excel Rally series, young Canberra driver Adrian Coppin realises it’s time to get down to business.
The penultimate round of the series is the Eco Point Murramarang Bay Stages Rally, to be held on the NSW South Coast this Saturday.
Following his victory at the last round of the series in Bathurst three weeks ago, Coppin closed to within one point of series leader David Roberts from Nowra.
“The victory at Bathurst gives me a realistic chance of taking the title lead this weekend” Coppin said.
Coppin is going into this weekend’s event with confidence having finished 3rd Excel in last year’s event in only his 4th rally and first outing in the Excel.
“I like the roads around Batemans Bay and the last event proves I can mix it with the series leaders so it’s game on” Coppin added.
The Total Traction Services/FSport sponsored Excel has had a new engine installed for the rally and some suspension modifications made in preparation for an “all or nothing” assault on the lead next weekend. As usual Kumho rally tyres will be used.
“I have had a good year so far and to be pushing Dave so early in my rally career feels great” Adrian said. “I set this series as my goal for 2010 and it within reach, so I won’t be taking any prisoners this weekend” Coppin added
Coppin is unlikely to been seen in the diminutive Excel next year, having firm plans to be driving something much faster in the 2011 season.
