It was the works drive that never was – David ‘Dinta’ Officer driving one of the factory Holden Commodores in the 1995 Round Australia Trial.
The 1984 Australian Rally Champion was pencilled in to be team-mates with Ed Ordynski and Peter Brock, but a late change of plans left him on the sidelines, and determined to “beat these bastards”.
In the latest episode of RallySport Magazine’s DustTrails podcast, Officer explains how the drive fell through and the subsequent privateer entry ended up costing him more than $35,000.
