Stage 2 at Rally Poland was a major moment for DMack, the first time the company’s tyres had led a World Rally Championship event, albeit for just one stage.

In an event where the stages in Poland are traditionally soft, in addition to the surface cleaning character which favour later runners, this was the opportunity that DMack user and eighth car on the road Ott Tanak and the tyre company had longed for.

The conditions seemed right for a good result. Before the rally Tanak, however, said “the roads at Rajd Polski are not so soft as they used to be, and in those places where it is, it is nicer to be in the front of the rally and not so nice if you are running behind.  In some other places the roads are quite hard which is better.”

Coming after the tough stages seen on recent WRC events, Tanak admitted: “It is easier here for us (DMack users) than it was in Sardinia, we are expecting to have a lot of work to develop our new gravel tyres, and then we have our new tarmac tyres.  A lot of work to do, but I think we have made a good improvement.”
