DustTrails, Episode 11: ‘Dunko’ and Datsun

Ross Dunkerton was Australian Rally Champion as a privateer in 1975 before being picked up by the Datsun team – he explains his story with the team on our podcast.

From being dropped to being re-hired multiple times, his story is a great one. And in typical ‘Dunko’ fashion, he provides some great stories and laughs for all to hear.

From the 240Z all the way through to the 710 and the Stanza, Dunkerton had an up and down ride with the brand, but continued to deliver them success.

One of his highlights? The 1980 Southern Cross Rally win which he says involved a lot of luck after a bad error from one of his rivals.

He explains it all to RallySport Magazine’s Peter Whitten.
