Weeks (driver) and Allen (navigator) brought the Supaloc Racing Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera home ahead of the similar Lamborghini of Jason White / John White and the Porsche 911 GT2 of Jim Richards / Barry Oliver.
The official status of the rally victory was delayed due to a timing error, with the Whites initially awarded the overall honours. However, thorough investigation of the timing from the Supaloc team revealed the error, and the results were subsequently amended.
“I am ecstatic about this victory,” Weeks said earlier this evening. “We were in a pretty good position just before lunch, so John and I decided that we needed to go absolutely flat out after lunch to make sure we beat Jim Richards and Jason White.
“It was an extremely competitive rally. We were doing absolutely insane stage times, and the three of us were swapping stage wins, so we really had to fight right to the end.
“The car actually became jammed in fifth gear for two stages, but I was still able to set record stage times, which just demonstrates how brilliant the handling and braking of the car were.
“This is a very satisfying victory, and it’s a great way to bounce back from the problems we had at Targa Tasmania earlier in the year.”
Supaloc Racing Technical Director Oscar Fiorinotto was also very enthusiastic about the result.
“This is two rally wins in a row for Kevin in the Lamborghini, after we took out the ASP Rally in South Australia earlier in the year,” he said. “I’m very happy with how the car performed over the course of the rally, and Kevin drove sensationally.”
