July 25 to 27 will see the eighth running of Rally South Australia in the current era, and it will again be based in the heart of South Australia's wine regions in the beautiful Barossa Valley, the spectacular Adelaide Hills, Mt Crawford Forest and for the first time, the Murraylands.
Many of the stages are generally as they were in 2007 however there are six, new council road stages and some small modifications have been made to other stages. The Forest stages have been significantly changed and reduced to just the one pass each day.
Recce has long been a potential source of problems on the mostly public roads, and so this year organisers have provided a much more relaxed schedule, with recce available on Wednesday (Western set), Thursday (the rest) and Friday (Western set again) , so crews will be able to choose which day they will do the group 1 set.
Rally HQ will again be at the Mt Pleasant Service Park, in Tallunga Park in Mt Pleasant, and all rally administration will come from there, including scrutiny of interstate cars and the Podium.
A South Australian Rally Championship round (round 4) will also run both days, as well as a Clubman (Round 3) event in both heats. Classics are also invited to compete. The event is also hosting the inaugural State of Origin Rally Challenge, a really good initiative that should see more
crews competing for a cash prize and trophies.
Supplementary Regulations for the Sprint Auto Parts Rally SA, and all the other competitor documentation is now available from the event website www.rallysa.com.au. Entries are now open for the event, and they close on July 3.
