Following a meeting of interested people in Melbourne a few months ago, new regulations have been suggested to form the basis of a new series within the Victorian Rally Championship for 2009.

The Series, open to eligible 6 cylinder Falcons and Commodores,  would remain within PRC regulations and competitors would be eligible for VRC points. This is to ensure that the cars don’t become orphans but, more inportantly, is to ensure that ownership of the series stays with the owners of the cars. This means that the success of the series will be totally dependant on the owners who invest in it. It will also allow the series to evolve at its own pace.

All comments received about the proposed regulations will be discussed at a meeting to be held in mid October and a final draft will be developed for ratification by those that will make up the owners group, and published for those who may wish to be part of the series.

Whilst based on the successful formula of the Excel Series Rules, it is anticipated that people interested in developing and competing in these types of cars would be very different to those that would be attracted to the Excel Series, and as such, it is not seen as a competitor to that series. It is seen as a means by which rallying can be expanded to include the natural rivalry that has existed for decades between the Ford and Holden camps, while moving existing Holden and Ford people into newer cars.
