Had we the cash to spare, we would have been taking bets on what was the best-sounding car at last month’s Rally of the Heartland.

It's difficult to go past the 5-cylinder roar of an Audi Quattro, the grunty rear-engined 6-cylinder Porsche, or even the stretching rubber band sound of Quinny's Mazda RX2.

But for many, there was no going past the raucous sound of Jimmy Leoncini's Toyota Corolla – hardly the most likely-looking rally car, but boy, does it go!
