Following a Victorian Rally Panel (VRP) meeting overnight, information has been released outlining the panel's plans for rallying in the remainder of 2020. Five events are planned to run in 2020, but all of these are subject to the State Government's restrictions at the time. Three events are calendared for the Victorian Rally Championship but how those events will run and how they will be scored is still being debated by the VRP. "It should be noted that State Government regulations remain the over-riding factor in allowing these events to proceed and under restrictions as they are today it is not possible for these events to run. Motorsport Australia is continuing to work with State Government to reach a point where this is not the case," the statement said. Victoria has had a recent spike in cases around Melbourne, which has thrown the planned easing of restrictions. If these events are to all go ahead as planned, they will all need to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines. "It is important to note that running a rally is challenging at the best of times, and COVID-19 will add complexity, costs, demand for officials on top of the uncertainty of what government restrictions might apply on those dates." "These event organising committees are sticking their neck out in uncertain times and we encourage everyone who can support these events to do so."
