Florence, Italy’s ancient centre of the Renaissance world of art, opened up its celebrated Palazzo Vecchio "Old Palace", now the Town Hall, and the adjacent Piazza della Signoria, for the presentation of the WRC programme of the young Florentine driver Tommaso Ciuffi.

Last year Ciuffi won the Italian gravel rally championship.

Italy’s round of the WRC (9-11 June) has attracted a poor presence of Italian drivers this year, the top seeded driver being Fabio Andolfi in a Hyundai i20 R5 .

The only other registered championship entry from Italy is Enrico Brazzoli in another Peugeot 208 R2.
