The Full-On Rallysport team will travel across the ditch to compete in the New Zealand round of the 2008 World Rally Championship. Announcing the decision to contest the Repco Rally New Zealand, Bruce Fullerton said that date changes to the ARC calender had clashed with his work commitments, so part of the team’s budget has been switched to compete in New Zealand.
“Rob Reddiex, our service crew chief, and myself spectated at last year’s Rally New Zealand,” explained Bruce, “and we came away saying that if the opportunity ever came up to compete, we should take it. So when an Evo 8 became available, and event dates in the ARC started changing again, we quickly put a package together.”
The team of Bruce Fullerton and Hugh Reardon-Smith is supported by Fullerton Financial Services and Standard Pacific Queensland, and is entered by Prestige Motorsports and Performance of Manakua City, south of Auckland.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to compete at the highest level on the North Island’s flowing roads, and we are really looking forward to it,” enthused Bruce. “We shall have Prestige’s service team managing the event for us, along with our experienced service crew of Rob Reddiex and Richard Harris.”
There are only three Australian drivers entered in this year’s event, with Bruce and Chris Atkinson both hailing from Queensland, and six Australian co-drivers entered, again with Queensland well represented.
“Repco Rally Australia has been on our radar for some time,” said Bruce, “and to be able to enter the New Zealand event as well makes good sense. The experience will be excellent for us.”
