The first round of the KCF Rallysport Series in Queensland provided an excellent test session for the new Lancer Evo 6 of Bruce Fullerton and Hugh Reardon-Smith.

After one of Full-On Rallysport’s most successful seasons, in 2006, finishing fourth in the BP Ultimate Challenge, everything is now in place for 2007. The Subaru WRX was sold to Western Australia and an Evo 6 was acquired by Bruce in late 2006. This has undergone a full rebuild, and last weekend’s rally was the first opportunity to test the car.

The pacenoted event, which runs two stages, three times, saw Bruce Fullerton settle quickly into the new car.

“Good power and good traction,” was the initial response, and stage times backed that up. After four stages the team were lying in second to 2006 Queensland Champions Glenn Brinkman and Steven Richardson, having set fastest time on both SS3 and SS4, which was quicker than the team expected to be.

A couple of minor problems with the car were discovered, so with the mission accomplished, the car was loaded up to prepare for Coates Rally Queensland.

The Evo 6 appeared in plain white, but a new design highlighting the support of Fullerton Financial Services, Pioneer Seeds and Prime Haulage will be in place for the event.

Full-On Rallysport’s plans are to compete in a number of ARC rounds, and registration for the 2007 Challenge is being assessed.
