Indian driver, Gaurav Gill, clinched his third FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship title in his native country at the Coffee Day Rally. Gill and his Belgian co-driver, Stephane Prevot, finished over a quarter hour ahead of their Team MRF Skoda Fabia R5 teammate Ole Christian Veiby. Veiby suffered a broken driveshaft on the second stage of the event, causing considerable loss of time, and was only able to continue when the team changed the gearbox and clutch at midday service. This dropped Veiby down to fourth place, but he was able to recover to finish second in the four stages of Day 2. Third overall was Indian driver PG Abhilash in his Subaru Impreza WRC STI. Guest driver Mike Young from New Zealand drove a nationally homologated Indian VW team Polo R2, but he missed stages when his fuel tank was holed on Day 1. Polos scored victory in the national category event after their rival, Amittrajit Ghosh, rolled his Mahindra XUV500. https://twitter.com/skodafabiar5/status/934689877328842752
