26 year-old New Zealander Emma Gilmour is to contest the back-to-back FIA World Rally Championship events, the OMV ADAC Rallye Deutschland and Neste Oil Rally Finland, in a Group N Fiesta ST.

Dunedin-based Gilmour has been driving a Group N Subaru on national championship rallies (currently lying third in the NZRC), but her talents were spotted earlier this year, when she attended the winter driving school run by John Haugland in Norway. Initially, Emma was offered the chance to drive a World Rally Car on a British clubman event, but the opportunity to drive a Fiesta on WRC rallies was deemed to be more beneficial.

Haugland was instrumental in helping future WRC champion Petter Solberg develop his skills.

Gilmour's plan is to reguarly contest the WRC, and as the partner of Chris Atkinson's co-driver, Glenn Macneall, she's already well known in WRC circles.
