Silverstone Competition Tyres have released a set of FIA tarmac rally tyres for Steve Glenney to use in the upcoming tarmac round of the SA Rally Championship.

Having won both Rally Tasmania and Targa Tasmania this year, Glenney is now considered to be one of the most accomplished drivers in Australia.

Silverstone Competition Tyres have recently had tarmac rally successes overseas, notably Eugene Donnely’s first place in the Donegal International Rally in a Skoda Fabia WRC, and Phil Collins’ first outright in the Donegal National Rally in a Ford Escort.]

Homologated FIA tarmac rally tyres are not new to Australia, but to be approved for use in an event, tyres must meet Australian Tyre and Rim Association Standards, which also conforms to CAMS schedule E requirements. Silverstone’s FIA tarmac rally tyres have been approved by CAMS and placed on the ‘CAMS Production Tyre List’ for use in most forms of tarmac competition.

Homologated FIA tarmac rally tyres have a defined control surface taken up with grooves at least 5.5mm deep, and occupying at least 17% of the total surface area.
