Hankook Tyres has signed on to sponsor the 2009 Scottish Rally Championship, despite the economic downturn.
Hankook, which is the world's seventh largest tyre manufacturer, plan to extend the sponsorship deal beyond 2009.
“These are hugely tough financial times in motorsport and for the Scottish Rally Championship to attract such a major sponsor as Hankook highlights just how strong the sport is in Scotland,†Scottish rally legend, Jimmy McRae said.
“That, allied to the fact the winning Junior will receive a fully-funded drive in an international rally next year will hopefully help us find Scotland’s next World Rally Champion.â€
Scotland's eight round championship begins with the Snowman Rally in February, and concludes with the Colin McRae Forest Stages in October.
