A forum posting on Marcus Gronholm's website www.mgr.fi has hinted that the former World champion could return to WRC competition in 2009.  The posting says:

"According to our information from England,

Marcus Gronholm ''signed on Wednesday with Team Subaru for a program to start including eight of the twelve tests in the World Rally Championship WRC 2009! "

The return of the Finnish driver is a source of motivation to try to seek a sixth world crown for Loeb.

Recall that the former double World Champion had retired from the sport last year stating (he was) worn (out) by all his years of competition.

Contacted by the Subaru team, Marcus had recently conducted tests deemed very promising Wales.

At first,  Gronholm had indicated "wanting to ride in 2009 in the WRC Rally in competing on snow like Norway"

Finally, leaders of Team Subaru and its owner Dave Richards managed to persuade him to contest most of the events (eight out of twelve).

We welcome this good news because Marcus Gronholm is a driver among the most gifted seen in World Championship and adds his undeniable talent, elegance, refinement and major distinction. "

If the report is indeed true, it could make for a very interesting 2009.
