Busselton Subaru rally team’s Leigh Hynes and co-driver Stuart Percival have the 2011 WA Rally Championship firmly in their sights.
The highly experienced crew have confirmed they’ll be back on home turf in the ultra quick Subaru Impreza that took them to the 2008 WA title and most recently a satisfying fifth outright at Rally Victoria in November.
After competing in a few rounds of the ARC last year Hynes has decided to keep the team in WA for 2011.
“There’s a few reasons why we’re not heading east this year with the obvious one being a lack of budget to commit to the whole season and also that rallying is, like most sports, a lot more enjoyable with as many family and friends around as possible, which of course is difficult when your over 3000km’s away from home,” Hynes said.
Continuing with the team for 2011 will be 22 year old Andrew MacDonald. The soon to be Busselton resident won’t be in his Toyota Sprinter but will be in the teams non turbo Subaru Impreza RS. MacDonald jumped at the chance when offered the drive which will give him an opportunity to learn some all wheel drive techniques without having to harness the power of a turbo charged car.
The team’s first event for 2011 will be the Quit Forest Rally in Busselton on April 15th.
Busselton Subaru Rally Team use and recommend Modena Transmissions, DMS Shock Absorbers, Busselton Subaru Service, Project Mu brake pads and Auto Panel & Paint in Bunbury.
