The inaugural asp Mount Alma Mile attracted over 500 spectators to witness this new event on the motorsport calendar.
Organised by the Southern Districts Car Club (SDCC) with 100% volunteer effort, the Clerk of the Course, Michael Clements, praised the organizing committee, the sponsor, the competitors, the City of Victor Harbor Council and the spectators for their participation.
“It is a great feeling when all the components of a new event come together and the community, and especially Cure4CF, are the beneficiaries. Our sponsor, Application Service Provider – asp - gave marketing, computing and graphic design services and the principals and staff of the company threw themselves behind the event with great enthusiasm.â€
“When the Southern Districts Car Club first proposed the Mount Alma Mile we were really impressed with the instant acceptance – the City of Victor Harbor Council was great, and what really made an impact was the amount of applications we received from competitors within ten days of announcing the event.â€
“Before we knew it we had a full complement of competitors and the volunteer forces that run the Southern Districts Car Club set to work to make the event the great one that it was.â€
“The Fleurieu Peninsula can proudly boast that it can ‘do’ an event, provide great entertainment close to Adelaide, engage the local residents and do it all without being a burden on the taxpayers.â€
“Thank you to everyone who helped, participated and attended.â€
NB: Cure4CF raised almost $4,000 over the weekend from their BBQ, spectator donations, competitor donations and the revenue from the campsite area.
