The next installment of The Australian Tarmac Rally Championship is fast approaching, with the inaugural Snowy River Sprint set for the weekend of May 26 – 27.

The second round of the four-part national championship will pit competitors against the forest roads around coastal holiday destination of Lakes Entrance, with a massive 295km of competitive kilometres over the two days.

This promises to be one of the great tarmac rallies in Australia, with twenty stages on brand new roads with short liaison distances in between to save fuel and tyres and prevent fatigue. The rally stage start is only 1.5km from the service park.

The short liaisons and tightly-packed field ensure a full day’s racing each leg – and promises great value for money.

The entry fee for Modern cars set at just $2,650, which works out at $8.99 per competitive kilometre – arguably the best value tarmac rally in the country.

Even more so for Classic entrants, with an entry fee of $2,200 working out to $7.46 per km! No other tarmac rally in Oz can match it.

And finally, for those without a dedicated, rollcaged race car, the Tour category allows the average punter with a license in any street car, daily driver or that special car that is usually confined to the racetrack or garage the same 20 special stage privileges as the competition cars, to enjoy the freedom of a closed road all to themselves. For just $600, you can take a partner, share the drive, or even give the entry as a gift to a car-mad friend or family member.

The Lakes Entrance area has a vast array of accommodation to suit any budget, and is situated just four hours from Melbourne and eight hours’ drive from Sydney. The rally will be based out of the Central Hotel, and a cocktail party followed by a live band will be held on the Saturday evening.
Recce information is now available, and the start and finish points of each stage have been marked on the tarmac to make the process easier for competitors.
