Interview: Bates thrilled with Forest Rally battle, despite penalty

Toyota driver, Harry Bates, has swept aside the penalty that cost him victory in this month’s Forest Rally, preferring to focus on the enjoyment he took from the tight battle at the front of the ARC field.
Bates and co-driver, Coral Taylor, were on track for victory in the event before a one-minute time penalty cost them victory on the last day of the rally.
Showing the maturity that has helped to make him Australia’s fastest rally driver, Bates has already moved on from the penalty, and is thrilled with the battle that took place in Western Australia.
“Looking back at WA, the big thing for me is what an incredible fight it was between Nathan (Quinn), Lewis (Bates) and I,” Bates said.
