Kiwi stars back in action at this weekend’s Rally Nelson
- 6th July 2017, 7:37am
This weekend’s Rally Nelson sees the event run for the first time since 2010.
Going from a two-day NZRC round to an 80km Clubman’s rally, the event has attracted 40 entries, with former local lad, 2015 national champion Ben Hunt, the top seed.
The NZRC will see an R5 car in the field for the first time at Rally Coromandel.
While details are yet to be released, it is understood a real up-and-coming star will take the wheel of a Ford Fiesta R5 car, formerly run by Norwegian driver Eyvind Brynildsen.
Rally Coromandel will also see several new cars to the championship appear.
It is expected that two new AP4 cars will break cover for the event, as well as Australian Irishman, Richie Dalton’s Polish built Ford Fiesta.
They will all be taking on NZRC regulars, plus WRC star Hayden Paddon in the Hyundai NZ i20 AP4.
