Speaking at a Citroen presentation before Rally Argentina 2018, Kris Meeke gave his analysis on the latest generation World Rally Cars. “Obviously these new generation cars with a big, big increase in horsepower is the main thing, but we also have more elaborate aerodynamics and the addition of the central differential," Meeke said. "So many things that we have to adapt to. As for the horsepower and the aerodynamics, you just naturally take the potential from that when you drive, it's not something you actually think about. "Probably the biggest difference is the central differential. With one turn of the switch you can make the car difficult to drive or you can make it really perfect. "The older generation DS3 WRC had no central differential, it was less adjustable. "For me, you can use aerodynamics in a different way, and you feel more secure at the high speed. I know there's been a lot of discussion from the FIA about the top speed on some events like Rally Finland, but for me the argument does not really ring true. "All the drivers feel more secure at high speed with the new aerodynamics. "They're fascinating to drive and I'm happy to be driving in this era, with these generation cars. For me they are the fastest rally cars ever produced, and probably the safest.”
