Nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb returned to rallying in style today and leads Rally Monte Carlo in his Citroen DS3 after the opening two stages. Volkswagen’s Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala are second and third, with Ott Tanak (Ford Fiesta) fourth.

Day one of the opening round of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) was tough on drivers as they were constantly forced to make the transition between ice, snow and wet asphalt on what were already demanding night stages. Loeb won the first stage and Ogier the second, with the more experienced Frenchman holding a 13.3 second lead overnight.

The rally resumes this afternoon Australian time.
