M-Sport are pleased to announce the prize for the 2018 FIA Junior World Rally Championship. Having proven their pace on snow, asphalt and gravel, the eventual champion will become the proud owner of a brand-new Ecoboost-powered Ford Fiesta R5. As well as their very own Fiesta R5, the champion will also receive free WRC 2 registration as well as free fuel and a generous tyre package for the 2019 WRC 2 season. In order to win this once-in-a-lifetime prize, the competitors will have to master a variety of different surfaces and conditions behind the wheel of the Ford Fiesta R2. Starting on the snow-covered tracks of Rally Sweden, the championship will then venture to the twisting asphalt of the Tour de Corse before one of the FIA World Rally Championship’s most popular gravel events – Rally de Portugal. A further two gravel events complete the season with the iconic jumps and ‘yumps’ of Rally Finland and the return of the Rally of Turkey. The best four scores count toward the championship and double points will be awarded on the final round in Turkey. In addition, one championship point will be awarded for each stage victory – encouraging the competitors to show their maximum performance throughout each event. The price for five rallies in the 2018 FIA Junior World Rally Championship is set at 139,500 EUROS and registrations open on 1 November 2017. The first driver selection will be made by 15 December and we look forward to introducing some of rallying’s brightest future stars to the world stage. Junior WRC Manager, Maciej Woda, said: “I’m very pleased that we can now announce the Junior WRC package for next year. We have decided to introduce a revolutionary new prize which is the ownership of the brand-new Ford Fiesta R5. “We want the winner to be in a position to continue their career in WRC 2 to the best of their ability and, with their own car, they will be able to do the additional testing required to learn the car and prepare for the events. “We are working with our partners to provide as much support as we can and, with what we are already in a position to offer, we believe this is the best value-for-money step for the eventual winner’s career.”
