M-Sport looks likely to stick with the Fiesta model when new regulations are introduced into the World Rally Championship in 2022. There had been reports that the Ford Puma would be their vehicle of choice once the new hybrid regs were brought in, but M-Sport have eluded to using the Fiesta. "Designers at Dovenby Hall are working on a new Ford Fiesta Rally1 scheduled for 2022, and in Krakow the team are engaged with the development of a new Ford Fiesta Rally3 designed to bridge the gap between two- and four-wheel-drive competition in 2021," M-Sport said in a press release. 'Rally1' is the current World Rally Car Class, which has been renamed under the FIA's new pyramid structure for rally cars. Fresh from victory at Rally di Roma Capitale, the Ford Fiesta Rally4 was the first to align within this new class structure, and the Ford Fiesta R5 MkII will now be known as the Ford Fiesta Rally2.
