Argentine driver Marcos Ligato, who lost the race to the 2017 FIA Codasur title by one point, has secured his national title.
Ligato amassed an unbeatable points total at the end of the first day of the final Rally Argentino championship round.
Going into the Grand Premio Rally at Cruz del Eje, Ligato needed only one extra point to deny the title from his nearest challenger, Peugeot driver Geronimo Padilla.
It was the fifth national title for Ligato who recently turned 40 years old, and who announced this would be his final year in active competition.
Ligato is the proprietor of the Cordoba based Tango Team company which develops and runs the Chevrolet Agile Maxi Rally cars.
At the end of the first day of the rally, four Chevrolet Agiles were lying in the top seven places. Padilla went into the final day in the lead of the event.
