Colin McRae will contest the Dakar Rally again next year, having singed a deal to join the X-Raid team for the arduous event.

McRae will drive a bio diesel-powered BMW X3 CC alongside extreme skiing world champion, Guerlain Chicherit, Production World Rally Championship driver Nassar Al-Attiyah.

"I believe we can challenge the major factory teams," McRae said. "The car handles well for an offroader and actually reminds me of a World Rally Car."

McRae has four stage wins on the Dakar, having competed in 2004 and 2005.

He will again be co-driven by Tina Thorner.
