McRae, Gill chasing the target on Bustard’s back

Both Max McRae and Taylor Gill will be pushing for a full points result at this weekend’s Adelaide Hills Rally as they try to clinch the lead of the ARC’s premier support category.

The Production Cup is led by Queensland-based Irishman Ronnie Bustard, with fellow Irishman and teammate Cahal Carey in second, however, both Mitsubishi drivers are being chased by the Subarus of teenagers Taylor Gill and Max McRae.

The absence of Bustard and Carey at the championship’s sixth round leaves the door wide open for either young driver to capitalise.

It’s McRae who leads Gill, but by a narrow 13 points, and both drivers would need to finish on the podium in both heats to climb into the lead of the series.

This won’t be an easy task for either driver, with the likes of Jamie Luff, Zayne Admiraal and Jody Mill all in with a shot to crush the dreams of the two youngsters.
