Colin McRae's second attempt at the X Games Rally event in the USA ended with his second roll in two years.

The 1995 World Rally Champion clipped a barrier early on in his semi-final and rolled his Subaru at the Los Angeles-based event.

McRae, who took silver at the X Games event last year, was battling against fellow Subaru Rally Team USA driver, Ken Block, when the crash occurred.

"I overcooked the corner," the Scot explained. "I hit the hand-brake and slid, just touched the barrier. We caught the barrier with the rear and it pulled the front end. There was a gap in the rails, so the front-end just went into the next barrier, pushing it along. Then the only option was to try and push it out of the way, but the car rode onto it and then it flipped over the top of it. It all happened quickly.

"The car is straight, it just has bad panel damage," McRae added.

McRae eventually finished fifth, with the event being won by Tanner Foust, with Block second and former motorcross star Travis Pastrana in fourth place.

Foust’s team-mate in the event was USA-based Australian, Andrew Pinker, who was knocked out in the quarter finals by Foust.
